Harringtons of Kingsland
There is one thing in Kingsland that is a puzzle to us.
It’s all of these Harringtons - I’ll explain to you thus.
Go first to Lacken and then you’ll find John P.
There’s his son Johnnie and little John makes three.
Then go to the pub on top of the hill,
You’ll find there John Christopher, the Pints he will fill.
He has two sons, one of whom is called John.
His father John Francis to meet his maker is gone.
In case you think that this jigsaw is through,
Go to Carrowkeel there’s a Johnny there too.
There’s Bill in Breedogue and a Bill in at Ardmoyle,
Breedogue Bill’s wife Mary in the shop she does toil.
There’s also Lacken Mary, she’s Johnnie’s wife.
I’m not fooling, it’s the truth on my life,
There’s Terrence in Emlagh and Edward in Grangemore.
Francis is Edward son, with brothers to count four.
They have cousins beside them, Vincent and Kevin too.
Now I know in this verse I have left out a few.
But I hope in these lines that I have explained.
If a postman makes a mistake he cannot be blamed.
No matter where you live around this place.
A Harrington on some side of you are bound to face.
