The Crossroad's Brigade

In the village of Kingsland, you all know so well.
A few lowdown ruffians, around it do dwell.
The congregate every evening, and are not afraid.
Those villains that are known as the Crossroad's Brigade.

It was in the New Year andthe boys were out late.
Off the hinges they took King’s and Hanberry's gate.
They placed them on chimneys, they were not afraid,
those villains that are known as the Crossroad's Brigade.
For they don't know that God is watching from high,
and nothing escapes his keen watchful eye.

When they meet their creator they’ll then be afraid.
Those villains that are known as the Crossroad's Brigade.

By Bernie Kivlehan

Shortly after Bernie wrote this poem, his brother Jack Kivlehan turned it into a song, and sang it one night in Harringthon’s thatched pub, to the tune of "Betsy from pike”.
