Imelda Jones

Imelda Jones, née Naughton. Kingsland N.S. 1915-1920. Finished her National School education in Lurgan Co. Armagh where her aunt Hanna was a teacher . Went to St. Louis in Monaghan for her secondary education. Then to University College, St. Stephen’s Green, where she graduated with a B.Sc. degree. Taught in the Dominican Convent Eccles St., for 2 year. She later taught for 2 year, in the college Wexford where one of her pupil, was the present Bishop Willowby of Wexford. Taught for a number of year, in the Convent of Mercy, Boyle. She then joined the staff of the Leitrim V.E.C. and taught in Marymount College, Carrick-on-Shannon, the Vocational School Drumshanbo and retired from Carrick-on-Shannon vocational school in 1987. She went to her eternal reward in 1991 R.I.P.


Rev. Barlhelomew Keaveny

Rev. Barlhelomew Keaveny, Breeoogue. &rn 28th Oct. 1881. Kingsland N.S. 1885-1895 . Summerhill College, Sligo 1895-1900. Joined the seminary in the Diocese of Oakland, California in 1900 . Ordained to the priesthood in 1907. Gave all of his Priestly live to the diocese of Oakland. Celebrated his Golden Jubilee in 1957. Retired on 1st Nov. 1958. He passed peacefully from this life on Dec. 11th 1964, and is buried in the grounds of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Oakland, California.



Fr. Tom Travers

Fr. Tom Travers R.I.P. Formerly of Lisgullane, Killaraght. Born 1902. Pa,t pupil of Kingsland National School and St. Nathy’s College, Ballaghaderreen. Entered the priesthood in 1920. Ordained in Maynooth in 1930. Went a, curate to Croydon, England. Later he went to Plumstead as Pariah Priest . He worked there until his sudden death in 1965.


Fr. Pat Traver, R.I.P

Fr. Pat Traver, R.I.P. Formerly of Lisgullane, Killaraght. Born 1900. Past Pupil of Kingsland National School and the Presentation Brother, School in Boyle. He joined the Vincentian congregation in 1924 and studied in Liverpool and Dublin. Ordained to the priesthood in 1931 in Clonliffe, Dublin. A man of great intellectual ability he began post graduate studies in dogmatic theology at the Angelicum University in Rome where he was awarded a doctorate in 1933. He spent the next 12 year of his life at the Irish College in Paris. He was appointed Dean there at first, then he was made President, a post he held until after the war in 1945. He returned to Maynooth College as spiritual director until 1952, he spent the following year, in London, then back to Maynooth. His final years spent in Phibsborough, Dublin (St. Peter’s Church). He died in 1987.
